The FIATM Group Inc. Peer Support Services Program is a person-centered, recovery-oriented program that empowers individuals and families to overcome life's challenges through meaningful relationships, lived experience, and evidence-informed support. Our Peer Support Specialists work alongside youth, young adults, adults, and families experiencing behavioral health challenges, trauma, justice involvement, educational barriers, family instability, or other life stressors by providing compassionate guidance that promotes resilience, hope, and long-term wellness.
The foundation of our program is the delivery of one-on-one and group peer support services that create safe, supportive environments where participants can openly discuss their experiences, identify personal strengths, and develop practical strategies for growth. Individual peer support focuses on personalized goal setting, emotional support, problem-solving, and skill development, while group sessions foster mutual encouragement, shared learning, accountability, and positive social connections. Through these supportive relationships, participants build confidence, strengthen coping skills, and develop healthy support networks that extend beyond the program.
Our Peer Support Specialists also provide recovery coaching and wellness planning to help participants identify meaningful goals and create individualized action plans that support emotional, behavioral, educational, vocational, and personal success. Working collaboratively with each participant, specialists assist in developing wellness strategies that recognize personal strengths, reduce barriers, encourage healthy decision-making, and promote sustainable recovery. This strengths-based approach empowers individuals to actively direct their own progress while reinforcing hope and resilience throughout their journey.
Recognizing that individuals often encounter moments of crisis and uncertainty, FIATM provides crisis stabilization and support navigation designed to reduce immediate risks while connecting participants with appropriate community resources and services. Peer Support Specialists offer compassionate emotional support during difficult situations, assist participants in identifying healthy coping strategies, and help them navigate behavioral health systems, educational institutions, healthcare providers, housing resources, employment services, and other community-based supports. By ensuring timely access to appropriate services, the program strengthens continuity of care and reduces barriers to long-term success.
Central to the program is the promotion of empowerment and self-determination practices. FIATM believes that lasting change occurs when individuals are equipped to make informed decisions about their own lives and futures. Peer Support Specialists encourage participants to recognize their abilities, advocate for themselves, establish achievable goals, and develop the confidence needed to overcome adversity. Rather than creating dependence, our approach emphasizes personal responsibility, informed choice, resilience, and the development of lifelong skills that foster independence and sustained well-being.
The distinguishing strength of FIATM's Peer Support Services Program is the integration of lived experience in service delivery. Our Peer Support Specialists utilize their own lived experiences with recovery, personal growth, and overcoming life's challenges to establish authentic, trusting relationships with participants. This shared understanding creates a level of credibility, empathy, and connection that traditional service models often cannot replicate. Participants are encouraged by real-world examples of resilience and transformation, helping them recognize that recovery, healing, and personal success are attainable regardless of past circumstances.
Through a holistic and collaborative approach, FIATM's Peer Support Services Program promotes improved behavioral health outcomes, increased resilience, stronger family relationships, enhanced community engagement, educational achievement, workforce readiness, and long-term personal wellness. Guided by FIATM Group Inc.'s mission that "Family Is All That Matters," the program helps individuals discover their strengths, build supportive relationships, and develop the confidence and skills necessary to thrive within their families, schools, workplaces, and communities.
