
DONNELL P. LAYNE
Executive Board Member
Donnell Layne is a leading edge technology executive committed to the creation of sustainable, efficient, service orientated I.T. environments. He previously served with the Noble Network of Charter Schools, Chicago’s largest charter school network, directing all IT operations to meet customer requirements as well as the support and maintenance of existing infrastructure, applications, and development of new technical solutions. He also has the pleasure to be the Co-founder/Chief Operations Officer for Bridging The Gap, inc, a non-profit organization and the Krimson Technology Group, LLC. He has been working in the computer and telecommunications field for over a decade. During this time he has held numerous leadership positions working as a senior technical project manager, teacher, trainer, technical writer, and consultant.
Mr. Layne did his undergraduate work at Cornell University and his engineering work, graduating summa cum laude, at Northwestern University. He has held senior level positions at the global corporation - Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions and the Urban Prep Charter School network. He also had the opportunity to work directly with Dr. Josef Blass, who is recognized as one of the creators of the 401 (k) plan, lending his unique talent of explaining complex concepts in understandable language. As a co-founder of Bridging The Gap, inc. he started the Nature, Technology and Tomorrow initiative dedicated to providing educational opportunities and experiences for underrepresented minorities in technology.
Mr. Layne has successfully managed multiple major IT projects that has spanned 9-12 months simultaneously across the globe. His work ethic, creativity, great team spirit, and business acumen make him a “go-to” guy on any initiative of which he is a part. He is dedicated to utilizing his skills to close the digital divide in disadvantaged communities across the United States. He currently serves the Director of the STEM Innovation Center and Makerspace at Moreno Valley College. Mr. Layne also serves as an Executive Board member and Treasurer for the Greater Englewood Chamber of Commerce and Founder / President the Greater Englewood Chamber of Commerce Foundation to help from strategic business partnerships in the community. In California his work closing the digital divide continues with F.I.A.T.M.
